Project Description

We have been working with Horizon Health Network / NB Heart Centre for over 18 years. During this tenure, we have been involved in a variety of Telehealth projects including tele-cardiology, tele-nephrology, tele-psychiatry, tele-emergency, just to name a few.

We designed, created, and implemented the Cardiac Triage Telehealth software portion of the VITAL project for the New Brunswick Heart Centre. It was written as a plug-in to our Second Opinion™ Professional software. The Cardiac Triage system is a province-wide implementation that linked all of the referring hospitals in the province to the New Brunswick Heart Centre. The software used clinical criteria to triage patients waiting to be transferred to the heart center for procedures, and with the help from a physician, ranked them accordingly.

In a joint project with Horizon Health Network, we developed a portable remote monitoring / home health unit. This unit includes an ICU vital signs monitor that allows real-time viewing of patient vital signs, audio, video and remote capture of high resolutions still images and works on communication lines as low as a 28.8K dial up modem. The Second Opinion™ Professional Clinical Workstation and Central Station were developed in conjunction with HorizonNB.

Second Opinion also provides a variety of other services to Horizon Health Network / NB Heart Center including Custom Programming, Consulting, On-Site Training, On-Site Installation, and On-going Technical Support. We also provide them with a variety of medical peripherals.
